Service Fee
BulkDelivery PRO includes an optional "Service Fee" feature that, when enabled, automatically calculates and displays a Service Fee as part of the customer’s order total at checkout.
Important: Laws and regulations related to fees and surcharges can vary by state and locality. BulkDelivery PRO provides this feature as a configurable tool, but does not provide legal, tax, or compliance guidance. Merchants are responsible for determining how and whether to use this feature in accordance with applicable laws and card network rules.
How the Service Fee Works
When the Service Fee is enabled:
A fee labeled “Service Fee” is calculated as a percentage of the order total.
The calculated amount is added to the customer’s order and included in the final total.
The Service Fee is shown separately from product costs, delivery fees, and taxes.
The Service Fee label is fixed and cannot be renamed. This is intentional to ensure consistency and clarity in how the fee is presented to customers.
Configuration Options
The Service Fee feature includes four configuration settings:
1. Include Service Fee
This setting turns the Service Fee on or off.
Enabled: The Service Fee will be calculated and applied to eligible orders.
Disabled: No Service Fee will be added to orders.
2. Service Fee Percentage
This value determines how much of the order total is added as a Service Fee.
The percentage is applied to the order subtotal at checkout.
The calculated amount is shown as a separate line item labeled "Service Fee".
3. Service Fee Cap (Optional)
The Service Fee Cap allows you to set a maximum amount that can be added as a Service Fee.
If a cap is set, the Service Fee will not exceed this amount, even if the percentage-based calculation would otherwise be higher.
If left blank, no maximum is applied.
4. Service Fee Description (Optional)
This field controls whether additional context is shown to the purchaser earlier in the checkout process.
If text is entered: The description will appear on the Cart screen, notifying the purchaser that a Service Fee will be applied before they proceed to checkout.
If left blank (default): The Service Fee will only appear on the Checkout screen as a line item, without additional explanation.
This allows merchants to control when and how the fee is disclosed during the ordering flow.
Visibility to Customers
Depending on how the feature is configured:
The Service Fee may be visible on the Cart screen (if a description is provided).
The Service Fee will always be visible on the Checkout screen when enabled.
The fee is clearly labeled and included in the final order total.
General Use Considerations
The Service Fee feature is often used in situations where merchants want to apply a consistent, percentage-based fee to online orders, including cases where payment processing or platform-related costs are incurred. BulkDelivery PRO does not enforce how the fee is calculated beyond the configured settings, and does not restrict how the resulting revenue is accounted for by the merchant.
